Madonna had accomplished most of her success in the 1980's, but her power in the music industry is demonstrated by her ongoing success. Fantail in Flight

The Solo Female Artists of the 90’s – Revolutionary and Timeless.

Growing up in the 90’s my 'audiotopia' was founded on the timeless talent of the female solo artists of the era such as; Mariah Carey, Madonna, Whitney Huston, and Celine Dion. All of the artists and songs presented in this blog are award winning, which is a testament to the success of the artist and her music.

The goal of this blog is to introduce you, the reader and listener, to the scene and soundscape that gives the solo female artists of the 90’s their identity through the use of a play list. The music of the solo female artists includes everything from; pop, country, folk, R&B, ballads, instrumentals and much more; but the one thing all these musics have in common is the power of the women behind them on the American music scene of the 1990's. These women are not just a 'Britney Spears' recording other peoples songs, the women in this playlist are writers, poets, musicians and much more.

This blog will give you a compact; who, what, when, why of  ten of the top female artists of the 90’s.

Who:  Ten of the most Successful and influential Solo Female Artists

When: Of the 1990’s

How:  Experience the magic of some of the top recording women of the 90’s through a personally compiled ‘playlist,’ which I believe is representative of the sound of the female soloists of the 1990’s. Each artist has her own page that contains a brief synopsis of her contribution to the scene, highlighting individual success within this musical scene, showing why she was chosen as part of this prestigious group of women. The ten female artists who have been chosen to represent the 1990s were selected based on the following criteria and statistics

Criteria
·         Number of Hits released
·         Number top 10 hits (anywhere in world)
·         Number of #1 hits
·         Awards (Grammy Awards etc.)
·         Album and song sales
·         Overall popularity

Why: I chose to pick the 10 solo female artist based on their success and contribution to the music world in the 1990's; and how their unique sounds come together to create a niche and identity for the female soloist within the many musical scenes that exists in the world today. The number of solo female artist who gained awards over males and bands in the 1990's is exceptional and worth drawing attention to.

A FINAL NOTE: Enjoy the play list and I hope if nothing else, you can appreciate the glorious job these women did at holding their own in the music world in the 1990s.
